The one time I had to call customer support, I was on hold for 40 minutes before talking to a pleasant lady in the Phillipines who had no right to be working the tech support lines. Granted this was a one off incident, it was enough to sour me away from 1and1 for life.

1and1 is good so far as ou don’t need to call there suport

I am use to occasional IT problems, but I expect there to be recovery plans. I have a meeting planned for this weekend with paid speaker, etc. But, I cannot send out the notices because the Marketing Email system is down. I don’t think \Business Package\ means much to them. To me it should mean service and minimal downtime are important. I’ve called tech support twice and both times I ask for an estimated time that the system will be up. In each case they don’t know. I’ve asked for them to extract my email list and to email it to me. The answer is they’ll try but don’t know when. This is making me anxious because it means I’ll be taking old copies of uploaded email lists and splicing them together tonight in hopes that I can get a group of volunteers to set up mailing lists and get the work out. I’m venting, but it also makes me want to find another hosting service with an uptime guarantee.

I have been with them for 5 years
the site is easy to use , uptime is good.
Does not have many sub-domains as standard
Bad Points
Customer service is not very good
they offered FREE .info sites but was only for first year but they never had it celar on there site. they charged me for two years after the first, promised me a refund but it never happend
1and1 has horrible customer support.
I had a problem relating to a domain registration. I made a phone call to them, and the support tech didn’t even know what a nameserver was.
On top of that, the support tech’s indian accent caused a language barrier… I could only make out parts of what he was saying.
